Energy usage
Cement manufacturing is an energy intensive process, indeed energy represents 35% of the industry’s fixed costs.
Collectively the cement manufacturers exceeded government agreed targets of improving specific energy consumption by 26.6% over 1990 levels ahead of schedule, recording an actual reduction level of 33.7% in 2008.
This has been achieved through effective investment including the commissioning of three new kilns in the last decade, replacing older, less efficient processes. |
