Novel Cements
“It’s cement, but not as we know it”
For over a hundred years our modern world has depended on Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) to build its home, schools, hospitals, roads, railways and much more. Infrastructure that we take for granted, but which comes at a carbon cost. In our last ‘special feature’ we looked at the cement industry’s carbon reduction strategy as far out as 2050. In this feature we concentrate on one particular development that will contribute to that strategy: non-OPC, low carbon cements.
